A Solution for Social Conflict? An Old Idea May Help Us Resolve Today’s Communication Problems

Join PRSA Lookout Chapter on Wednesday, August 7th at The Mountain City Club to hear from Lee University professor and fellow PRSA member, Dr. Andrea Phillips.

Phillips earned her bachelor’s degree in radio, TV and film production from Texas Christian University and then worked in the non-profit sector developing events, training, and corporate team-building programs. She earned her first master’s degree at Dallas Theological Seminary while working as an account manager and creative director for a Dallas-area agency that designed corporate branding, promotion, communication and incentive programs for Fortune 1000 companies.

Later Phillips became the director of university communications at John Brown University in Arkansas, where she oversaw the team developing the university’s website and social media communication, media relations, community relations, crisis communication, brand management, and publications. During her time at JBU, she became a PRSA member and earned her APR.

She taught her first college class at JBU and later decided to pursue a new career as a full-time college professor. She left her position at JBU, and went on to complete her MS in Public Relations/Advertising at TCU and her PhD in Public Relations at Texas Tech University. During that time, she also ran her own company, FTF Marketing Communications, which she still operates today.

In 2014, Phillips moved to Tennessee to take on the role of assistant professor of public relations at Middle Tennessee State University, and then moved to Lee University.
