TECHNOLOGY
Nokian Tryes has faced some challenges with their sustainability story, but they have learned how to tell that story through “NET” Benefits.
Understanding that it doesn’t have to be political, but can be more on a personal, neighbor-to-neighbor level. People care about their lakes, rivers, etc. in their backyard. Safety, sustainability and economic growth don’t have to be at odds with each other. It takes innovation to take a core asset about sustainability and find ways to connect it to those buying tires.
Boling shared about how they’ve grown, their future outlook on the economy and working as “neighbors” in North America, but he wrapped it up with “HOW DO WE TELL THE STORY”. If we’ve learned anything in the past year as public relations professionals, storytelling is a high priority for us all!
So, here are some great tips from Boling and examples from Nokian Tyres:
In ending statements, Boling shared, “It’s okay for corporate values to serve as means, as long as they are also sincere ends. When we enhance the ‘what’s in it for me’ factor, we increase the odds of making our values sustainable.”
